About the event

Join us at this evening discussion between a Director of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chairman of Asia Society Hong Kong Center, for more insights on what foreign policy should entail.

Learn about the global policy strategies that has led to the UAE's global influence today, and how their Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) is shaping the next generation of diplomats to navigate the world in a time of increasing geopolitical strain and challenges throughout the Middle East.

About H.E. Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri (click to expand)

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri is a distinguished diplomat currently serving as the Director of the Strategy and Future Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) since 15 December 2021. He was appointed Deputy Director General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) on 25 January 2022. Dr. Mohammed has been with MoFA since 2018, holding various significant positions including Deputy Director of the Policy Planning Department (2018- 2019) and Deputy Director of the Strategy and Future Department (2019-2021). Prior to his diplomatic career, Dr. Mohammed served as an officer in the Ministry of Interior from 2010, where he led projects related to strategy and government policies. Dr. Mohammed holds a PhD in Management and Strategic Foresight (2021, London), a Master of Philosophy in Strategy and Innovation (2019, London), a Master in Diplomacy and International Relations (2019, AGDA), a Master in Human Resource Management and Development (2012, Manchester), and a Bachelor in Software Engineering (2011, Manchester). He has also earned various certifications and has completed executive courses in leadership. Born in Al Ain, Dr. Mohammed is an avid reader, enjoys traveling and hiking, classical music, and has a keen interest in collectibles and art.

About Ronnie C. Chan (click to expand)

Ronnie C. Chan is the Honorary Chair of Hang Lung Group Limited and its subsidiary Hang Lung Properties Limited, both publicly listed in Hong Kong. Hang Lung expanded into mainland China in 1992, developing, owning and managing world-class commercial complexes in key tier one and tier two cities. In 1986, Mr. Chan co-founded Morningside, a diversified investment group engaged in private equity and venture capital investments in North America, Asia, and Europe. He founded and chairs the China Heritage Fund, and is a cofounding Director of The Forbidden City Cultural Heritage Conservation Foundation in Beijing. Mr. Chan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Chair Emeritus of the Asia Society and Chairman of its Hong Kong Center, and Co-Founder and Chairman of the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society. He serves or has served on the governing or advisory bodies of several think tanks and universities, including: Peterson Institute for International Economics, World Economic Forum, East-West Center, Pacific Council on International Policy, Eisenhower Fellowships, The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, University of Southern California, Indian School of Business, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Yale University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University.

Important Notes: 
1. Registrations for this activity is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the quota is reached. 
2. If the activity is oversubscribed, that is the number of registrations exceeds the available quota, participants will be selected through drawing lots. All registrants will be notified of their selection status following the draw. 
3. Unsuccessful registrants will be placed on a waitlist in sequential order. Once there are vacancies, they will be filled by waitlisted participants accordingly. 
4. Successful registrants will receive a confirmation email two weeks prior to the activity date. Upon receiving the confirmation, participants should settle the payment within 72 hours to secure the place. ASHK reserves the right to release the quota if participants fail to pay in time.

4. 成功報名者將於活動日兩週前收到確認電郵。 收到電郵後需於 72 小時內完成繳費以確認名額。若未按時繳費,本中心有權釋出該名額。
